GEORGETOWN - Arline Alice Ridgeway was born on Nov. 15, 1940, to Mr. Andrew A. Ridgeway and Ms. Nellie Carey in the Atlantic City Hospital, Atlantic City, N.J. Arline was the last of 3 children in this family with her older brother, James Carter and older half sister, Leona Muntz Arline, and lived in the Trenton State Hospital from 1954 until 1964 due to her inability to control her self and her emotions. Arline's father died at the age of 57 and her mother was unable to provide for Arline's needs. Arline was admitted to Stockley Center Nov. 4, 1965. She became well known and well love of walking, the color purple, tigers and her often humorous yet sometimes colorful language. Arline lived at Stockley Center until 2008 when she left the facility to live in a community setting. Ms. Johnson who was caring for Arline in her home, made Arline a part of the family. There were few limits on where you might find them when it came to traveling. Arline loved to go with Ms. Johnson's to her parents for Sunday dinner, or just to stop by. Arline returned to Stockley Center briefly following hip surgery for rehabilitation. She then returned to Ms. Johnsons, but the surgery left Arline with a limit on her mobility and she returned to Stockley Center to live in 2011. On March 15, 2011, staff reported that Arline was having difficulty breathing and was in discomfort too. Doctors and nurses were called. Arline was sent to Beebe Medical Center and was admitted. On March 22, 2011, Arline passed away a Beebe Medical Center. Arline is survived by her niece, Mrs. Ester Gilbert of Dover, Ms. Andremeda Johnson and her second family at Stockley Center and Chandler Suite. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Stockley Center, 26351 Patriots Way, Georgetown, DE 19947, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cheswold, Del.
