HKW--PWHL-FUTURE

DESCRIPTION: PWHL executive Stan Kasten says the goal all along was to begin taking on outside investors once the league doubled in size in reaching 12 teams. The only flaw in the projection was Kasten — and most everyone else — never anticipating getting there after just three seasons. The PWHL’s fast-paced growth reflects surges in attendance, sales and viewership and so far belies concerns raised over whether the league’s taking on too much, too soon. The NHL’s projected No. 1 pick displayed a knack for picking up ping pong by eventually besting his coach Guy Gadowsky. Much like McKenna showed his competitive drive in improving his paddle skills, the 18-year-old forward adapted on the ice against older and more physical competition. Soaring 10 feet or more in the air one bounce at a time, this tight-knit group gathers every year at a predominantly Black Pittsburgh neighborhood for “Pogopalooza.” “I feel like it’s similar to a fraternity,” Smith said. “But if like all the frat guys were half jocks, half artists, with a little sprinkle of mystical zest on the whole thing.” By National Writer Will Graves. BBO--PRIDE NIGHT-BIBLE VERSES

MLB Commish: Giants botched Pride Night cap guidance, leaving players unclear on opt-out

SUMMARY: MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred says the San Francisco Giants failed to inform players they could opt out of wearing rainbow-themed caps during Pride Night. Some players, including pitcher Landen Roupp, added Bible verses to the caps, which violated league policy. Missouri Senator Josh Hawley expressed concern over the warning to players, calling it “dubious” and arguing MLB promotes a political viewpoint with Pride-themed uniforms. Manfred responded that the league’s policy allows exemptions for Pride emblems and players can opt out. Manfred said the Giants’ communication was inadequate, but players face no penalties or fines.
