CAF reacts to chaotic Africa Cup final with host of changes. General secretary Mosengo-Omba departs
SUMMARY: African soccer’s governing body has announced a raft of “changes and improvements” to its statutes and regulations as it deals with the fallout from a contentious Africa Cup of Nations final. Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football, says structural, legal and administrative reforms will help regain trust in its impartiality and ensure scenes from the final in January are never repeated. The outcome of that final is still in dispute after CAF stripped Senegal of the title two months later and awarded it to host nation Morocco. Also, Véron Mosengo-Omba has stepped down after five years as CAF general secretary. Motsepe confirmed the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will go ahead in Morocco as initially planned.

SUMMARY: Replacement officials, potential rule changes, artificial intelligence, health and safety issues, international growth and flag football will be among many topics discussed when NFL owners, executives and coaches gather for their annual meeting this week in Arizona. NFC coaches will speak to reporters on Monday, AFC coaches will do so on Tuesday and Commissioner Roger Goodell closes it out.
