OLY--IOC-EPSTEIN AND ICE
IOC president Kirsty Coventry says ICE and Epstein files are ‘sad’ distractions from Winter Olympics
SUMMARY: The United States is already dominating the narrative two years before the Los Angeles Olympics and five days before the opening ceremony of the Milan Cortina Winter Games. International Olympic Committee officials, including President Kirsty Coventry, faced questions about ICE and the Jeffrey Epstein files at a news conference in Milan on Sunday. Coventry said it was “sad” that these issues were distracting from the upcoming Milan Cortina Winter Games. Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Milan on Saturday to protest the deployment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents during the Olympics. Coventry emphasized the focus on the games and the inspiration they bring, despite ongoing controversies.

TEN--AUSTRALIAN OPEN-ALCARAZ SLAM
Carlos Alcaraz becomes youngest man to complete a career Grand Slam. Is a calendar Slam next?
SUMMARY: Now that he’s the youngest man to win all four major singles titles, Carlos Alcaraz is fielding questions about his chances for a calendar-year Grand Slam. Alcaraz beat 24-time major winner Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final on Sunday to complete a full set. At 22 years and 272 days old, he surpasses the previous record set by Don Budge in 1938. With a new coaching team and his development still a work in progress, the seven-time major winner wants to take each Grand Slam event as it comes. Up next is the French Open at Roland Garros, where he’s the two-time defending champion. Djokovic praised Alcaraz’s growth and potential, calling him a “legendary tennis player.”

Paul George, who has faced his own struggles, offered advice to Embiid on handling injuries. George admitted in February 2025 that he relied on painkillers to play through injuries. His first year in Philadelphia was tough, marred by injuries and personal stress from wildfires near his Los Angeles home. On Saturday, the NBA suspended George for 25 games for violating the anti-drug program. Despite these setbacks, the Sixers remain hopeful for a successful season if they can stay healthy and maintain momentum.

BOX--LOPEZ-STEVENSON
Shakur Stevenson dominates Teofimo Lopez to become a 4-division champion
SUMMARY: Shakur Stevenson dominated Teofimo Lopez to win a title in a fourth weight class, taking a unanimous decision to capture the WBO junior welterweight belt. The unbeaten Stevenson was in control the whole way Saturday night, hardly getting hit in the early rounds and opening a cut over Lopez’s left eye later in the bout. All three judges scored the fight 119-109, giving just one round to Lopez. Lopez tried to press the action, but too often all that accomplished was leaving himself open to Stevenson’s counter punches. The current WBC lightweight champion added the 140-pound belt that Lopez held.
