FBN--CARDINALS INJURY

Cardinals lose tight end Travis Vokolek with a neck injury in first quarter of Colts game

SUMMARY: Arizona Cardinals tight end Travis Vokolek has been placed on a stretcher and taken off the field on a golf cart after injuring his neck on a kickoff return against the Indianapolis Colts. Vokolek was left flat on his back, not moving, after trying to block Colts linebacker Segun Olubi. Trainers rushed onto the field to tend to the former Nebraska player as players from both teams gathered around him. Some took a knee. Vokolek was placed onto a backboard, then lifted onto the cart before giving a thumbs-up as the cart drove through one of the field’s tunnels. A few minutes later, he was ruled out of the game with the injury.

FBC--OREGON ST-BRAY FIRED

Oregon State fires Trent Bray with Beavers off to 0-7 start

SUMMARY: Oregon State has fired coach Trent Bray after the team fell to 0-7, its worst start since 1991. Athletic director Scott Barnes announced the decision on Sunday. Robb Akey will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the season while a national search for Bray’s successor is conducted. Barnes expressed gratitude for Bray’s dedication but cited unacceptable on-field results as the reason for the change. The decision followed a 39-14 loss to Wake Forest on Saturday. The school said Bray’s contract buyout will be covered by donor-generated funds.

FBN--BILLS-COOK-GEORGIA HOMECOMING

Bills’ James Cook has TD motivations ahead of game vs. Falcons in Georgia homecoming Monday night

SUMMARY: For all his production during his college days at Georgia, Buffalo Bills running back James Cook was reminded of never scoring a touchdown in three SEC championship game appearances at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Cook plans to rectify that when Buffalo travels to play the Falcons in their home stadium on Monday night. The fifth-year player has established himself as a key threat in balancing the Bills’ Josh Allen-led offense with five touchdowns this season. Meantime, Buffalo’s defense will have its hands full in attempting to contain Atlanta’s lead running back Bijan Robinson.

FBN--BEARS-COMMANDERS-HAIL MARY

Commanders’ Jayden Daniels won’t relive the Hail Mary that beat Bears a year ago

SUMMARY: Jayden Daniels sees no point in reliving the “Hail Maryland” or “Fail Mary” play that lifted Washington to a victory over Chicago a year ago. So what if the teams’ rematch is going to be played on national television Monday night and everyone else will be discussing it? Daniels figures the 52-yard, last-play touchdown pass he threw to Noah Brown in 2024 is not going to help the Commanders beat the Bears this time. Washington comes in with a 3-2 record and a chance to pull even with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles atop the NFC East. Chicago enters on a two-game winning streak.

Vacherot beats his cousin Rinderknech to win Shanghai Masters after coming through qualifying rounds

SUMMARY: Valentin Vacherot beat his cousin Arthur Rinderknech 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to win the Shanghai Masters for the first title of his career after a stunning run from the qualifying rounds. The 204th-ranked Vacherot was the lowest-ranked tournament winner in ATP Masters 1000 history — and the first from the tiny Principality of Monaco. He had stunned 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. Vacherot produced a serving masterclass in the third set with three straight love holds and 15 consecutive points. Rinderknech saved one match point but Vacherot wrong-footed him with yet another blistering forehand winner down the line to clinch victory.

Colorado fans storm field after win over No. 22 Iowa State, Deion Sanders loves it but fine may loom

SUMMARY: Colorado fans rushed the field after a 24-17 win over No. 22 Iowa State on Saturday. Coach Deion Sanders loved the excitement, but it may lead to a fine for the second straight home game. The school drew a $50,000 fine for derogatory chants during a game against BYU on Sept. 27. The Big 12 may review this incident as well. Sanders expressed his support for the fans, saying he loves to see them rush the field. Security managed the situation, and the school lowered the goalpost to prevent it from being taken.
