FBN--NFL-IRELAND

Dublin braces for influx of Americans as Steelers-Vikings play Ireland’s 1st regular-season NFL game

SUMMARY: Ireland has sent quite a few of its people to America over the years. The United States will be returning the favor this week. The Steelers-Vikings matchup at Croke Park in Dublin is expected to draw a larger-than-usual chunk of U.S.-based fans compared to other international games. It will be the first NFL regular-season game in Ireland, and all sides are hopeful it could lead to more. That would be good news for fans in the states, who have shown massive interest in this one. The NFL says there’s been a higher proportion of U.S. interest in this one compared to games in other markets.

DESCRIPTION: After a virtually perfect first round of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, Joe Gibbs Racing suddenly is dealing with an internal feud of Denny Hamlin vs. Ty Gibbs and an external threat from Team Penske. While the Gibbs Toyotas were struggling and spinning each other at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the Penske Fords of Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano were dominating at a 1.058-mile oval that bears many similarities to Phoenix — the championship venue where Penske has won three consecutive titles.

The ACC cited one incident with 9:25 left in the game, calling it unethical and against the spirit of the rules. The national coordinator of football officials agreed that the actions violated fair play. FBC--AP TOP 25-EXTRA POINTS

AP Top 25: No. 12 Texas Tech’s Joey McGuire says his team’s ascent is fueled by love, not money

SUMMARY: Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire says he and his players know they’ve been derided presumably for trying to buy a championship by lavishing NIL riches among one of the nation’s highest-rated transfer classes. On3 reported the sum to be $28 million. That’s second in spending only to Texas and doesn’t include revenue-sharing distributions. Maybe McGuire’s players aren’t mercenaries, but it doesn’t hurt to have what McGuire called the best boosters in the country footing the NIL bill. McGuire says team chemistry rather than money is the reason his 4-0 team is off to its best start since 2013.
