Oilers get even with 3-0 win over Stars in Game 2 of the West final

SUMMARY: Connor Brown scored after getting hit in the mouth by a skate, Stuart Skinner made 25 saves for his third shutout of the postseason and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Dallas Stars 3-0 in Game 2 on Friday night to even the Western Conference final. It was early in the second period when officials stopped play with Brown bleeding after taking the toe of Mikael Granlund’s skate when the Stars forward fell down by him near the boards. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had a power-play goal for the Oilers, who go home for Game 3 on Sunday.

HKW--PWHL-FINALS-FROST-CURL

Frost forward Curl-Salemme finds solace among the boos she’s attracting in PWHL role as ‘villain’

SUMMARY: Minnesota Frost forward Britta Curl-Salemme was able to find peace amid the boos and criticism she’s faced during much of her rookie season. She did so by scoring twice in a 2-1 overtime win to even their best-of-five Walter Cup Finals series against the Ottawa Charge, with Game 3 at Minnesota on Saturday. If the twogoals placed an even bigger target on the 25-year-old’s back, then so be it, Curl-Salemme said when asked if she considered herself as the PWHL’s first villain. Curl-Salemme’s has gained a polarizing reputation for her physical style, which has drawn three suspensions this season, and for her on-line support of transphobic messaging, for which she apologized after drafted in the second round in June.

Timberwolves come home in a big hole dug by the relentless Thunder and their poise, precision

SUMMARY: Signs of frustration have been evident for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference finals against an Oklahoma City Thunder team chasing its first title with a mix of poise, precision and relentlessness unseen anywhere else in these NBA playoffs. The Thunder will take a 2-0 lead into Game 3 at Target Center in Minneapolis on Saturday night.
