French actor Gérard Depardieu found guilty of sexual assault and given 18-month suspended sentence
PARIS (AP) — A Paris court has found actor Gérard Depardieu guilty of sexually assaulting two women on a film set in 2021. He was given an 18-month suspended prison sentence. The 76-year-old actor was convicted Tuesday of having groped a 54-year-old set dresser and a 34-year-old assistant during the filming of “Les Volets Verts” or “The Green Shutters.” The case was widely seen as a key post-MeToo test of how French society and its film industry address allegations of sexual misconduct involving prominent figures. Depardieu has denied the accusations.

PARIS (AP) — Kim Kardashian says she feared she would be raped and killed during a 2016 armed robbery in Paris. She testified Tuesday for the first time in the trial. “I was certain that was the moment that he was going to rape me,” Kardashian told a French court. She said one robber pulled her toward him while she was wearing only a bathrobe. She added that “I absolutely did think I was going to die." It marked the first time Kardashian has confronted the men accused of tying her up at gunpoint in her hotel suite and stealing more than $6 million in jewelry.

R&B singer Cassie set to testify in Sean 'Diddy' Combs sex trafficking trial
NEW YORK (AP) — The R&B singer Cassie is poised to testify in Sean “Diddy” Combs sex trafficking trial. Testimony resumes Tuesday in New York. Combs is accused of forcing women including Cassie into drugged-up sex parties he described as “freak-offs.” Prosecutors say he used his status as a powerful executive to coerce women into abusive sexual encounters. Lawyers for three-time Grammy winner told the jury that while Combs could be violent, he never veered into sex trafficking or racketeering. Cassie has been at the center of Combs’ stunning downfall. She sued him in 2023 alleging years of abuse. A surveillance video made public last year showed Combs beating her at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.

Cannes makes it official: No nudity on the red carpet
CANNES, France (AP) — The Cannes Film Festival red carpet is perhaps the most rigidly controlled red carpet in the world. Now, the festival has added a new stipulation. No nudity. While nudity was never previously endorsed at the festival, Cannes updated its dress policy on the eve of its 78th edition to read that “nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival.” While a no-shirt-no-service policy is standard in places far less glamorous than Cannes, the policy tweak sparked widespread attention Monday because of the recent trend of sheer and “nude dresses” in some fashion circles.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rapper Tory Lanez has been hospitalized after an attack by another inmate at a California prison where he’s serving a 10-year sentence for shooting hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion in the feet. State corrections officials say Lanez was attacked in a housing unit on Monday and taken to an outside hospital. Officials did not specify how he was attacked, but a message on the rapper's Instagram account said he was stabbed 14 times and both his lungs collapsed. The post said Lanez, who was convicted of three felonies for shooting a handgun at Megan in the summer of 2020, is breathing on his own. His lawyers are appealing his conviction.
White House correspondents protest lack of wire reporters on Air Force One
The White House Correspondents Association says it is disturbed that no reporters from either The Associated Press, Bloomberg or Reuters were allowed on Air Force One to cover President Donald Trump's trip to the Middle East on Monday. The WHCA says it was the first time since reporters started traveling with a president abroad that no wire service reporters were on the plane. The wire services serve thousands of news outlets and millions of readers around the world. The White House has been fighting in court with The Associated Press since it began restricting AP's access to events because the outlet hasn't followed Trump's directive that the Gulf of Mexico be renamed the Gulf of America.
