Anthony M. Seeney

DOVER - Anthony M. "Tony" Seeney passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at Kent General Hospital. Mr. Seeney was born Dec. 18, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Forrest L. Seeney and Lola Mae Ridgeway Seeney. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and served 20 years in the National Guard. He worked for the City of Dover for 30 years in the Water and Sewer Department in the maintenance. After retiring from the city he worked for several companies, Roy's Electric, Bennett Security, Jackson Construction and Lowes. Mr. Seeney was a member of Vietnam Vets of America #850 and was part of their Honor Guard. He had coached, Dover, Hartly, and Marydel Little Leagues, he also followed his son Keith wrestling, football and baseball. Mr. Seeney was a fisherman, hunter. He was a member of Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Tribe of Bridgeton, NJ and was known as "The Popper Man". He played many instruments and sang and was very involved doing crafts for the Pow Wow's. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Seeney; sister, Birdella Ridgeway Newhard; brother-in-laws, Luther A. and James Sammons. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda Sammons Seeney; son, Keith and his wife, Shelby; daughter, Wendy Seeney and companion, James Monk, Sr., all of Dover; brothers, Arthur G. Seeney, of Lewisville, Texas, and Richard H. Seeney, of Dover; sisters, Sarah Seeney and her companion, Carl Hardman, of Milford, Janice Mae Seeney, of Dover, Nancy Jane Bryant and her husband, Eric, of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Karen (Sookie) E. Seeney, of Swedesboro, N.J.; grandsons, Jordan A. Seeney and James C. Monk, Jr.; father-in-law, Luther Sammons; sisters-in-laws, Mary Seeney, Brenda Sammons, Anita Sammons, and Lori Sammons , Shelia Pierce and her husband Herbert; and his best friend, Alvin Carney; godchildren, Mark Seeney, of Dover and Rick Seeney, of Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Tony was loved and will be greatly missed by many. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Sunday Oct. 2, 2016 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Fork Branch Cemetery, Dover.
