MILFORD - Anthony F. Nassner (Tony) passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford. He was 85 years old. Born in Baltimore, Md., Mr. Nassner was the son of the late Bernard Nassner and Anna Kispert Nassner Seifert. Mr. Nassner joined the U.S. military as a young man in 1945 and served through until his retirement from the Air Force in November 1967. He went on to work in the civilian world for Prince George's County, Md., where he became a notable leader in the modernization of the county's supply and procurement operations. When he retired from the county in 1991, he was commended for his contributions in automating their system of inventory control. After retirement, Mr. Nassner moved to Florida with his wife Mildred, returning to live in Delaware in 2004. He was a kind and gentle, soft spoken man who was well read in everthing to do with the Civil War. He loved collecting models of old cars, playing with the dogs and visiting with family. As his health declined, he moved into the Delaware Veterans Home, where he received the finest care. Mr. Nassner is survived by his sister, Rita Fowler and her husband Robert, of Dedham, Ma.; and a brother, Louis Seifert of Montana. Also left to mourn his loss are his stepdaughters, who loved him very much and will miss him terribly, Linda L. Quible (Paul) of West River, Md., Barbara H. Smith (Doug) of Denton, Md. and Donna M. Metler (Charles) of St. Leonard, Md.; four grandchildren, Lisa Quible, David Quible, (Thea), Jennifer Curran (Eric), and Justin Smith (Heather). Preceding him in death were his brothers, John, Ken and Clarence; his first wife, Dorothy H. Nassner, who passed away in 1981; and his second wife, Mildred L. Nassner, who passed away in 2012. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where friends may call from 6 - 7 pm. A memorial committal service will be held at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in memory of Tony to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd, Milford, DE 19963
