FELTON — The Lake Forest Community Education Foundation will sponsor the 7th annual Gobble Wobble 5K Run/Walk Nov. 19 at Lake Forest North Elementary School.
The day begins at 9:45 a.m. with a free kiddie race for ages 8 and under. The 5K races begin at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Registration opens at 9 a.m.
Pre-register at Races2Run.com before Nov. 11 at noon is $25 for adults and $20 for students K-12 and receive a t-shirt.
After Nov. 11, registration fees are $30 for adults and $25 for students K-12 and includes a t-shirt as supplies last. On the day of the race, registration fees are $35 for adults and $30 for students K-12 and includes a t-shirt as supplies last. Online registration closes at noon Nov. 14.
Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female, the Top Masters male and female, and the top three male and female runners in five-year age groups (10 and under through 70 and older). The largest registered team with the most finishers wins a prize basket.
The Gobble Wobble 5K is Lake Forest Community Education Foundation’s main fundraiser. The Foundation awards mini grants to support classroom initiatives, technology, sports, and the arts to enrich the minds of Lake Forest students.
Since 2004, Lake Forest Community Education Foundation has awarded 162 grants totaling $90,543 to advance primary and secondary education that is not covered by state and local funding.
Lake Forest Community Education Foundation has paid for software to promote reading, standing desks and stools for flexible learning, classroom libraries, Odyssey of the Mind transportation, Consumer Science field trips, and scholastic clubs.
The Foundation also awards grants to individuals awarded Teacher of the Year, Behavioral Health Support Professional and Education Support Professional for the Lake Forest School District.
Lake Forest Community Education Foundation is seeking race sponsors. Sponsorship levels are Platinum, $1,000; Gold, $500; Silver, $300; and Bronze, $200.
To date, Deb Cadwallader of Remax Horizons is the Platinum sponsor. Gold sponsors are: Blue Hen Construction, BW Electric, Chick’s Saddlery, Harrington Raceway and Casino, KCI Technologies, Paragon Contracting, Quality Exteriors, Town of Felton, Town of Frederica, and The Cunningham Family and Friends. Silver sponsors are: Delmarva Chiropractic and Wellness Center, Forrest Fence, and Response Computers. Bronze sponsors are: Delaware Electric Cooperative, Envirocorp, and Hobbs Enterprises.
Byler’s is donating bananas and Fifer’s Orchard will supply apple cider doughnuts and apples. TA Farms is donating four turkeys. Advance Auto Parts of Harrington donated a bucket of $50 of car wash products. Frederica Pizza and Pasta House donated a $50 gift certificate. Planet Fitness of Milford donated a three-month Black Card membership and gym bag.
