Angello's Scoops is a big hit in Downtown Salisbury

An ice cream shop at Downtown Salisbury’s crossroads is the newest addition to the One Plaza East building that has been undergoing a major renovation in recent months.

Angello’s Scoops opened Friday just in time for the National Folk Festival in a space that faces the South Division-East Main intersection.

“Location, location, location,” owner Sandy Angello said of her reason to relocate Angello’s Unique Gifts from the space next to Acorn Market in Riverside Commons to the new site.

Her former space also had no running water in the shop, which meant Angello couldn’t serve ice cream or other foods there.

The new space includes a large serving area for ice cream at one end, and displays of gift items at the other.

The shop will serve up 20 flavors of ice cream from Hopkins Farm Creamery in Lewes including some less common varieties such as salted caramel crunch and cappuccino.

Nicole Rogers, the store manager, said she has learned how to make waffle cones by pouring batter into an iron and then shaping them while hot onto a metal form.

Angello said the shop also has new lines of bath and body products, stuffed animals and baby items such as swaddle blankets.

And ornaments and other holiday décor is on the way.

“I’m really excited for Christmas,” Rogers said.

This is the third location for Angello’s business. The first shop opened in 2014 on the Downtown Plaza. She then moved in 2016 to Riverside Commons.

Angello’s Scoops eventually will have a next door neighbor in the One Plaza East building. Mogan’s Oyster House is slated to open sometime this fall.

The restaurant space with an entrance off of Division Street will have 100 seats at tables and at the bar. There will be 20 more seats at a patio space outside.
