HOUSTON - Angel Samuel Rodriguez, 48, of Houston, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family. Angel was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico the son of Eddie Rodriguez and Carmen Perez. He worked as a roofer for Grant and Sons Roofing in Milford for several years until he became disabled in 2006. He was a member of Houston Volunteer Fire Company for 9 years where he served the department as Building Superintendant, Senior Firefighter and First Responder. In 2002, Angel was awarded Fireman of the Year and from 2002 to 2006, he was in the top 10 responders for fire alarms. He was quite an asset to the Houston Fire Company and will be sorely missed. He also liked fixing cars and enjoyed building sound systems for cars. He also enjoyed fishing with his family. He was a kindhearted, caring man and was known as Mr. Fixit throughout the neighborhood. He was community oriented and could be depended on to help everyone. Angel was an outstanding husband, a great father, and would have been a wonderful grandfather for his grandson, who was born the morning that Angel passed away. Angel is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lillian Rodriguez - Echevarria; a son, Christ Lee Rodriguez; two daughters, Angie Lee Kilyk and Lilly Beth Rodriguez; a grandson, Isaiah Samuel Kilyk; his father and mother, Eddie Rodriguez and Carmen Perez; a sister, Bethzaida Roland; and four nieces and nephews, Robert Anthony Aponte, Marlyn Alexandra Aponte, Kevin Omi Aponte, and Kathleen Roland. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Independent Bible Fellowship Church, 6797 Milford - Harrington Highway, Harrington, where friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial with firefighter honors will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Angel's Memory to the Houston Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 120, Houston, DE 19954. Please put In Memory of Angel on your contribution. Arrangements by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford.
