Alvin was also a member of the Dover Elks Lodge, coached for Marydel-Hartly's Little League, and was an active scout leader and proud band parent during his son's participations in the Boy Scouts of America and school band programs. He was a man who loved sharing these passions amongst his friends and family.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his sister, Roxanne Carney; aunts, Glendora Ridgeway and Dorothy Eleanor "Toby" Carney, both of Dover, and Iona Gould of New Jersey; uncles, Purcell "Duke" Durham and Garland Carney, both of Dover, and Samuel "Jazz" Durham of New Jersey; cousin, Lucinda "Cindy" Davenport; as well as his best friend, Anthony "Tony" Seeney, whom he considered his brother.
