CALIFORNIA, Md. - Allen H. Cohey Jr., of California, died on March 10, 2009, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore City. He was 59. He was born in Chestertown, on Oct. 28, 1949, the son of the late Mary Theresa Schauber Cohey and Allen H. Cohey Sr. of Chestertown. Mr. Cohey graduated from Charlotte Hall Military Academy in 1967 and the University of Maryland James Clark School of Engineering at College Park in 1972. He earned a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland. He was married for 20 years to Bibiana Havens of St. Mary's County. Mr. Cohey worked since graduating from Charlotte Hall for Patuxant Naval Air Station. His career at Patuxant Naval Air Station as an Electrical Engineer spanned over forty years, retiring in 2008. He then worked as a consultant in the same field until his illness. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at the University of Maryland, St. Mary's County Lions Club, Maryland Terp's Club, St. John's Catholic Church in Hollywood, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chestertown. Mr. Cohey enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, sailing, and especially University of Maryland Sports. In addition to his father he is survived by his children, Allen H. Cohey III of Salisbury, Sarahann Cohey of California, Shariann Cohey of California, and Wilson E. Cohey of Ridge; a grandson, James Zaccagino Jones of California, Md.; a sister, Margaret C. Kaufman and her husband Butch of Centreville; a brother, Michael C. Cohey and his wife Jill of Chestertown, along with many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, High Street, Chestertown. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown. Interment will be held in Holy Family Cemetery, Church Hill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice House of Queen Anne's, 255 Comet Drive, Centreville, MD 21617.
