Alice L. Marvel, 88

DOVER - Alice L. Marvel, of Dover, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, in the Renaissance Health Care Center in Millsboro. She was 88. Mrs. Marvel was born in Aberdeen, Md., in 1920, to the late Orville Walter and Bessie Greenland Walter. She had retired in 1981 after 24 years as a clerk for International Playtex. Mrs. Marvel was a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover. She enjoyed taking care of her cats and spending time with family. Mrs. Marvel was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Walter; and a sister, Madeline Walter. She is survived by two sons, Gilbert Ward of Rehoboth and Jerry Ward of Milford; her daughter, Maryellen Lofland of Harrington; a niece, Jean Spurlock of Caseyville, Ill; and many dear grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009, at the Smiths Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, Churchville, Md. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
