Alberta R. Adkins

ELLENDALE - Alberta R. Adkins passed away peacefully at the Delaware Hospice Center on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017.
Mrs. Adkins was born in Wilmington to the late George and Evelyn (French) Johnson. She loved bowling and she was a loving mother and a strong willed woman.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, George 'Buster' Johnson; and her four daughters, Brenda, Sandra, Evelyn, and Eleanor.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar Adkins; son, Billy McCleary and his wife Pam; brother, Don Johnson and his wife Wanda; grandchildren, Ellen McCleary, Delorean McCleary, Mady Barns, Preston Mixon, Travis Mixon, and Desiree Mixon; nieces and nephews, Scott, Stephanie, Joey, and Kim; and close friends, Sue Baynard and Sissy Shapiro.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, DE 19968, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Interment will be at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
In lieu of flowers donations in Alberta's memory can be made to: Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
