Ada D. Carroll Loper

Ada D. Carroll Loper was born September 5, 1939 in Slaughter Neck, Delaware to the late Dalton S. and Grace A. Carroll. She peacefully departed this life on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware. She was the youngest of thirteen siblings, nine of which lived to be adults. Ada attended Slaughter Neck School and graduated from William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in June, 1956. She worked for Doxsee's Clam Factory, National Cash Register and her final place of employment was Super Fresh where she worked for many years. Ada married the love of her life, John Loper. They were blessed with three children, Victor, Patrina and Aaronell (Posey), seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her parents, Dalton and Grace Carroll; her husband, John Loper; two brothers, Leon and Clarence Carroll; and a niece, Lucinda Carroll preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Victor Loper, Millsboro, Del., Patrina Gilliam, Virginia Beach, Va., and Aaronell (Posey) Loper, Collingswood, N.J.; grandchildren, Keenon, Victor and Derrick Loper, Eric H. Williams II, Chad A. Gilliam, Seth A. Gilliam, and Khaleha Burroughs; great granddaughters, Keanna, Na'ima and Jada; a loving son-in-law, Michael Gilliam; two brothers, Nathan J. Carroll, Sr. (Michiko), Seaside, Calif. and James Carroll (Reba), Princeton, N.J.; four sisters, Margaret Smith, Lincoln, Del., Theresa Holmes, Milford, Del., Christia Carroll, San Jose, Calif. and Violetta Carroll, Milford, Del.; two very dear friends, Diana Duffy and Brenda Milbourne; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 23115 Slaughter Neck Rd., Lincoln, DE 19960. Interment will follow at Peoples Memorial Park Cemetery, Coastal Highway. Repast following interment at Faith United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall (formerly Rehoboth Day Care Center) on Oyster House Road. Arrangements by McPherson Funeral Service, Inc., Milford, Del.
