WSW breast cancer awareness walk is Saturday

Posted

For the 17th year, Women Supporting Women will be hosting their Walk for Awareness at Winterplace Park on Saturday.

Still ringing in their 25th Anniversary, Women Supporting Women has a wide array of events like this one scheduled for October, also known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Survivors and friends are encouraged to form teams to walk in honor or in memory of someone in their life who has been impacted by breast cancer, or just walk for fun.

Registration begins on-site at 8:30 a.m. Ceremonies begin at 10.

Fees are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the event. Ticket includes lunch from Texas Roadhouse, walk t-shirt and a bottle of water.

Furry babies are welcome as well for $5 per dog and will receive a goodie bag, bandana and AYCD (all you can drink) water.

“With this event, we hope to raise $50,000,” said Event Coordinator Shelby Moore. “We are still celebrating our 25th Anniversary, so this year’s walk marks a milestone for our organization.” The 17th Annual Walk for Awareness will include local vendors, tie dye station, a dove release and more! Awards will also be given for top fundraising team, top fundraising individual, largest team, best decorated team and best decorated dog.

Women Supporting Women is a local, grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to providing awareness, education and support to all those who are affected by breast cancer.

With no national ties or funding, they rely completely on our community to help provide free services to our neighbors, friends and families right here on Delmarva. To learn more about WSW, visit womensupportingwomen.org.
