SALISBURY - William E. Coffin died Saturday, Apr. 8, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Wilmington, he was a son of the late Harold H. and Rachel Elizabeth Coffin. He served in the National Guard 29th Infantry Division Blue and Gray, as a field medic. He volunteered for the Salvation Army as a football coach. He was a camp master and very much enjoyed Scouting and was a recipient of the 45-year pin. He was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and volunteered on Sundays' as the sound engineer and was a member of the Redmen Lodge in Fruitland. He owned and operated Coffins Carpet Service for several years, he worked as a line supervisor for the Campbell Soup Co. and he worked for Toroid Corp., from where he retired. He is survived by his wife, Louise Coffin; a son, Glenn Coffin, of Salisbury; daughters, Victoria Lizotte, of Page, Ariz., and Kimberly Mason, of Salisbury; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert H. Coffin, of Salisbury; a sister, Shirley B. Dailey, of Delmar; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Apr. 12, 2017, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Salisbury. Interment followed in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
