Wicomico selects Laura Hurley to replace Creamer

Posted

Laura Hurley, executive associate in the Wicomico County Council office and legal assistant, has been hired to replace Council Administrator Matt Creamer, who is retiring next month.

“The council is more than pleased to have her on board and see that she accepted the position. She is a paralegal so she’s familiar with law and that’s important in this position,” Council President John Cannon told the Salisbury Independent Tuesday morning.

He added that Creamer, who has been council administrator since 2007, “has a lot of institutional knowledge in the department.”

He will retire Dec. 31.

Hurley, a 2012 graduate of Salisbury University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business management, previously worked for the County Council’s current lawyer, Ed Baker, at Seidel, Baker & Tilghman.

The Council Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of that office, under the direction of the County Council.

“Assignments are difficult in nature and carried out in accordance with broad policy guidelines, general goals and objectives and applicable legal standards or regulations,” according to a news release issued by the council.

The administrator reports directly to the council and serves at its pleasure.
