Summer isn’t over just yet, but now is the time to sign up for some of our returning fall programs and events.

Registration for programs is available in-person during modified hours at the Wicomico Civic Center Box Office (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and online at WicomicoRecandParks.org. To stay up-to-date on our programs follow us on social media at @funwicomico.

Wicomico’s Summer Fun

Take part in the last week of Wicomico’s Summer Fun virtual programming. We’ve teamed up with the Wicomico Board of Education to bring you free, fun and educational activities your children can do at home. Junior Girls Fall Softball

Our team-entry-only girls softball league is back this fall. Junior Girls Fall Ball is for girls ages 12 & Under (Minor), 14 & Under (Major I) and 18 & Under (Major II). Players of all skill levels are encouraged to join and learn not only softball skills, but also player participation, how to be part of a team and sportsmanship.

The program fee is $500 for 12U and 14U teams and $550 for 18U teams. Registration is open through Aug. 21.

Youth Karate

Our monthly youth karate sessions now offer both virtual and in-person class options. Join Sensei David Doran as he teaches students the GoJu style of karate.

Each in-person class is limited to 12 students, and all students must be pre-registered. When signing up for a session, parents/guardians will choose whether the participant will participate in person or online for that month.

Beginner White Belt classes take place from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on Monday/Wednesday. Advanced classes are available following the completion of the introductory program. In-person classes take place in the Wicomico Civic Center’s karate room on the second floor on the Flanders Rooms side. Virtual classes will take place over Zoom. 

The program fees for the beginner classes are $40 per session. The first uniform is included; additional uniforms can be purchased for $10 each.

LiveBarn

Now, more than ever, is the time to utilize the ability to livestream games from all eight fields at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex via LiveBarn.

LiveBarn provides online broadcasts of youth and amateur sports across the U.S. and Canada.  Games are broadcast both live and via on-demand replay. Users can also share 30-second highlights via social media and email.

Wicomico County Tourism Photo Contest

Our Tourism Division is accepting entries for its 2020 Photo Contest through Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 5 p.m. Amateur and professional photographers ages 18 and older can submit photos taken in Wicomico County, which can include scenic shots from our parks or photos from festivals and events. 

Among the other topics to consider are culture, food and drink, and history. Photos must have been taken during the past two years. 

The first place prize is $500 and the winner’s photograph displayed on the Wicomico County Tourism website, in a Wicomico County Tourism e-newsletter and the next published Wicomico County Tourism visitors guide. Second and third place winners will be awarded $250 and $100, respectively, with the opportunity for their winning photographs to be displayed on the tourism website and in the guide.
