Sgt. Marty Fisher, child advocacy officer for the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, has been suspended without pay, after being charged with theft.

Fisher was arrested on Tuesday and charged with one count of theft having a value of at least $10,000, but less than $100,000 from the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 111, according to State’s Attorney Ella Disharoon.

The charges stem from an investigation conducted by an outside police agency and will be prosecuted by a Special Prosecutor from another jurisdiction.  Fisher was released on $100,000 bond.

Sheriff Mike Lewis released a statement saying Fisher was suspended with pay on Oct.  17, “as per the Law Enforcement Officer’s Bill of Rights from his duties as a member of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office when it was suspected that he was stealing money from the local FOP Lodge No. 111.

“Immediately following Fisher’s arrest on Tuesday, Nov. 22, Sgt. Fisher’s status was changed from suspended with pay to suspended without pay, pending trial,” Lewis stated.

Disharoon said her office couldn’t comment further, since the matter is pending.
