This week is another 3rd Friday celebration in Downtown Salisbury and this month's theme explores a well-rounded concept; wheels.

It’s all about skateboards, rollerskates, bicycles, cars -- anything with wheels - and the community initiatives that go along with our favorite hobbies.

Plus, check out pottery demos, robots, fire trucks and more.

On North Division Street, check out the pop-up skate park courtesy of Get Ramped and Swirled World Skate Shop.

There will be a variety of ramps and rails -- suited for all skill levels -- ready for you to try.  Kids of all ages can participate, so bring your bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, and unicycles -- and helmets -- because it’s time to shred!  Kids -- bring a parent or guardian and a helmet, and ride all night at no charge.

Parents will be asked to sign a waiver. While you are hanging out -- get signed up for the Salisbury Skate Park and learn more about the Salisbury Rollergirls roller derby league.

Lurking Class Skate Shop, located in the City Center building behind Roadie Joe's, will be hosting this year’s Skate Deck Art Show & Sale -- benefiting Phase 3 Construction for Salisbury Skate Park.

Stop in and bid on some boards, and check out Lurking Class’s awesome inventory of skate boards, brands and gear. Salisbury Skate Park is a fantastic community driven initiative -- that shows dreams do come true if you don't give up.

The brand-new Downtown Salisbury Amphitheater will be having its ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. along the Riverwalk, complete with entertainment, refreshments, and photo ops.  Maryland’s First Lady Yumi Hogan will be among the dignitaries in attendance, as well as, Mayor Jake Day and other members of the Eastern Shore Delegation.

The amphitheater will be used for the first time during the National Folk Festival on Sept. 7.

On the Plaza, artists and crafters fill the streets, plus live music by Wooden Ships on the main stage.

The Salisbury Jaycees will be pouring local craft beer and wine and Maya Bella’s Pizzeria will be ready with $1.99 slices all day.

St. Peter’s Episcopal will be celebrating 3rd Friday a ‘Finish Line Grill’ in the courtyard with activities and hotdogs, hamburgers and refreshments -- plus merchandise sales to commemorate their 250th anniversary.

Just around the corner on Church Street, check out SWAC -- Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council’s new headquarters, with "Arts on Church Street,” featuring the live band Freak Flag Fly.

Salisbury Art Space, located on the lower level of the Gallery Building, is hosting the Blooming Artists Exhibition showcasing art work created by children of all ages in the Main Gallery.

In the Robinson Gallery, SAS Education Coordinator Tawn Crosby Shivers will be showing her whimsical drawings of animals wearing top hats with a touch of steampunk and wildlife photography by Ann Richardson will be featured in the Foyer Gallery. Plus, check out pottery wheel demonstrations on the Plaza.

Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown Campus will host the closing reception for Cross Currents: Contemporary Art on the Eastern Shore, that includes pieces from 11 contemporary artists living and working on the Delmarva Peninsula, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The exhibition presents an array of practices and perspectives which includes 2-D representational and abstract painting and collage, as well as photography, silkscreen, ceramics, sculpture and installation.

The shops and businesses are ready for a fun night. Be sure to check out the “Art Car” in front of Eric Ludwig’s Barber Shop for a chance to leave your mark on this special automobile!  The Salisbury Fire Department will be showing off their wheels in front of Acorn Market and Angello’s Unique Gifts, where kids can check out the equipment and meet real life fire heroes.

At Barefoot Baby Boutique, receive free back to school supplies with the purchase or a backpack or a lunch tote, and be entered to win a 25th anniversary edition of “Wheels on the Bus” by Paul O. Zelinsy.

Kuhn’s Jewelers is running their Summer Sale, and Cake Art will have Create-Your-Own-Cupcake Night.

In honor of the wheels theme, Olde Towne Deli is donating 20 percent of its proceeds to Athletes Serving Athletes, an amazing organization that empowers individuals with disabilities to compete and train for mainstream running and triathlon events.

The Downtown bars and restaurants are ready with live music for 3rd Friday. Roadie Joe’s Bar and Grill will live happy hour jams on the patio with Dark Gold Jazz from 5:30 to 8:30pm, and DJ Blendz at 10 p.m.

Market Street has all new specials and happy hour, and DJ Juan late night. Brew River Restaurant and Bar is having a Friday Night Dock Party with the Ryan Forrester Band from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., plus DJ E-State for the late-night crowd.

Mojo’s has DJ Vybe late night, and The Brick Room has all your favorite songs on the Touch Tunes jukebox.
