Westside Historical Society to honor veterans

Posted

Westside Historical Society is pleased to present a public program, Honoring Our Veterans, on Sunday in the Barren Creek Springs Church.

This Veterans Day program is presented as an expression of our gratitude toward and pride in all those men and women who have kept Americans free for almost 250 years.

Arriving veterans, friends and guests will be welcomed by an “honor guard” of soldiers wearing the uniforms of past wars from the War for Independence, Civil War, and more.

Vietnam veteran Walt Cohee  will be delivering the main address, and other veterans in attendance will be invited to make informal comments. Veterans are invited to wear their uniforms, if they wish.

A candle-lighting Ceremony of Remembrance also will recognize all those veterans, living or deceased.  Music will be provided by  Mark Evans.

Refreshments will be served following the presentations.

Admission is free, and all ages are invited to attend.  Parking is available beside the church and across the street. For more information, phone 410-726-8047 or email westsidehistorical@gmail.com.
