A 34-year-old Salisbury man was sentenced to 111 years in prison after being convicted of weapons and drug violations, according to Wicomico County State’s Attorney Matthew Maciarello.

Jermaine Alexis Peters, 34, was sentenced in Wicomico County Circuit.

Of the 111 years he was sentenced to serve, 75 will be in the Maryland Division of Correction. The rest are mandatory and have a limited possibility for parole, Maciarello said.

Peters was arrested last October and found to be in possession of a kilogram of heroin and stolen handguns. He was on parole at the time, Maciarello said.

On May 3, he was convicted after being charged following a search of his home, on Chateau Drive. There, more than a kilogram of heroin with a street value of about $700,000, two handguns, several boxes of ammunition and more than $118,000 in cash were found, Maciarello said.

After stopping Peters for a traffic violation in November 2008, police recovered 15 small bags of heroin, 17 small bags of crack cocaine and a.45-caliber semi-automatic handgun.

The gun was loaded, Maciarello said.
