CAMBRIDGE - Wayne Yvon Harris Sr. , 52, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1954, in Dorchester County to the late Kemp and Lovella Harris.
"Moon," as he was affectionately called, attended public school in Dorchester County and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1972. He was employed with Dupont in Seaford, Del., and from 1975 until his death.
He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church (later referred to as the New Revived United Methodist Church) in Harrisville. He served on the PPR Committee, Usher Board, New Revived Choir and the United Methodist Men.
Mr. Harris was united in marriage to Joan Stanley on Feb. 28, 1997.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Corinthian Harris, preceded him in death.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Joan Harris; four children, Michele Harris of Salisbury, Wayne Harris Jr. (Sheba) of Fort Bliss, Texas, Trish Harris, of Owings Mils and Jessica Stanley of East New Market; three grandchildren, Wayne Harris III, Ltrra Harris and Isaiah Harris; two godchildren, Thomas D. Woolford and Shante" Berry; two brothers, Jerome Harris (Barbara) and Frank Harris; two sisters, Sara Harris and Denise Harris Randolph (Curtis); mother-in-law, Sarah Foster (Thomas); father-in-law, Harold Stanley (Elsie); special aunts, Gertrude Stanley and Josephine Woolford; aunts, Barbara Johnson (Arvil), Clementine Dickerson, Berdina Ross (Hayman); great-aunts, Annie Reese, Agnes Cooper and Alice Wongus; uncles, John Harris (Clare) and William Chester; great-uncle, Joseph Chester (Victoria); special brother-in-law, Everett Woolford; two brothers-in-law, Thomas W. Woolford, Bruce Woolford; a sister-in-law, Joyce Berry; nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend of the family, Carol Tyler.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, at St. Luke UM Church, 712 Bradley Ave., Cambridge. Burial will follow in Malone Cemetery at Madison. There will be no viewing. Arrangements are being handled by Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge.
