SEAFORD - Wayne C. McCarty, of Seaford, died Tuesday morning, April 7, 2009, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 53. Born on July 22, 1955 in Cambridge, Md., he was the son of Helen F. Stewart McCarty of East New Market, Md., and the late John Warner McCarty Jr. Wayne was a graduate of North Dorchester High School, class of 1974. For most of his working life, he was self employed as a mechanic with Federal Paper & Chemical (FPC). On June 10, 1989, he married the former Beth Virginia Hearn. Wayne was a member of the Marshy Hope Rod & Gun Club and White Marsh Hunting Club. An avid hunter, he also liked boating, fishing, crabbing and skeet shooting. He enjoyed traveling with his family and visited all 48 states of the Continental United States. He also visited Nova Scotia and the Panama Canal. He owned an antique 1979 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and 1953 Ford Pick Up, enjoying participation in antique car shows in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Wayne was a good husband and provider. He cared deeply for his family and friends and took great pride in his work. Surviving besides his mother, Helen McCarty; and his wife, Beth McCarty; is a sister, Sandra G. Bechtel and her husband Erden C. Bechtel of Rhodesdale, Md.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Hearn of Laurel; two nieces, Tonya Colquhoun and her husband John, Crystal Davenport and her husband Jason; great-nieces and great-nephews, Brandon Greathouse, John Colquhoun Jr., Anna Colquhoun, Elizabeth Davenport, Angel Davenport, Libby Davenport; aunts and uncles, Florence Brohawn, Willard McCarty, Charles McCarty, James McCarty, Ruth Horn, Blanche Fluharty and Vera Anthony; beloved beagle named Jack and Mittens the cat. Preceding him in death besides his father, John Warner McCarty Jr.; was his maternal grandparents, Raymond Stewart and Rhodessa Stewart; and paternal grandparents, John W. McCarty Sr. and Louise McCarty. The family will receive friends today, April 10th from noon until 2 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, 308 High St., Cambridge, Md., where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Officiating at the service will be Raymond H. Simmons Jr., cousin to the deceased. Burial will follow in East New Market Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Erden C. Bechtel, Gary Ebling, Jason Davenport, Kurt Schnitzer, Shannon Wright, Willard McCarty, Charles McCarty, John Colquhoun and James McCarty.
