Walter E. 'Duck' Kinsey Sr., 86 FISHING CREEK, Md. - Walter E. "Duck" Kinsey Sr., passed away in his home Sunday, December 12, 2009. He was 86. He was born at Jones Station, Md., June 11, 1923, and was a son of the late Leo James and Lottie Elizabeth Warfield Kinsey. He attended schools in the Baltimore area. Mr. Kinsey served in the U.S. Navy from December 12, 1942 and was honorably discharged May 16, 1951. He re-enlisted during the Korean Conflict and served aboard the U.S.S. Wasp, U.S.S. Midway and other aircraft carriers off the Korean coast. On December 12, 1948, he was married to the former Lillian "Dean" Bateman. For a number of years, they had made their home in the Orchard Beach and Mulberry Hills areas of Anne Arundel County. After he was discharged from the Navy, he had worked on the Anne Arundel County Police Dept for a number of years, until he retired in 1977. Mr. and Mrs. Kinsey had made their home at Fishing Creek since 1978. Mrs. Kinsey passed away on April 14, 2000. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching his granddaughter, Liz play softball. He had been in failing health for several months, and was stricken at his home on Saturday morning, where he passed away. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Regester of Secretary; one son, Walter E. Kinsey Jr. and his wife Darcel Kinsey of Church Creek; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Kinsey and Donald Loveless and his wife Jennifer; a great-grandson, Gordon Loveless; and one nephew, James Kinsey and his family of Ellicott City. A funeral service was 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, with the Rev. J. Edward King officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge.
