EASTON - Vivian Crampton Fassett passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Easton. She was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Pleasantville, N.J., daughter of the late Earl Crampton and Mable Esterday Crampton. After graduation with a BA Degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1948, she started her elementary school teaching career in Oklahoma and later transferred to Maryland. She was the second African American teacher hired in Dorchester County during school segregation. Vivian was a member of Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church. Her hobbies were reading, roller skating and knitting. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. James Edwin Fassett; and a sister, Elizabeth Dix of Bridgeville, Del. Her fond memories will be cherished by a son, William Fassett; niece, Jacqueline Dix (New Jersey); close and dear friends, Walt Johnson, Linda Townsend and Vicki Lee. Services will be private at a later date as determined by the family. Arrangements by Henry Funeral Home, PA.
