Vesta Lucille Peddicord
ELLIOTT ISLAND - Vesta Lucille Peddicord, 77, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Mallard Bay Care Center, Cambridge, where she had been a resident for the past three years.
Born on April 13, 1930, in Bascomb, N.C, she was the daughter of the late Henry Norton and Eliza Jane Sams Norton.
She was the wife of the late Herbert Clifton Peddicord who died on Aug. 22, 1993.
Mrs. Peddicord had worked at Martinek"s Button Factory, Elliott Island, and Meredith & Meredith Seafood, Toddville.
She was a member of Elliott Island United Methodist Church. Mrs. Peddicord liked country music, gardening, dancing, crabbing, fishing, reading and especially reading her Bible.
Surviving are eight children, Denia Jane Newman of Laurel, Md., Scott A. Hamilton of Indiana, Lucille Curry of Jessup, Rose Marie Tomer of Indiana, Timothy James Peddicord of Cambridge, John Clifton Peddicord of Elliott Island, Edwin Wesley Peddicord of Elliott Island; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother, Everett McIntire of Ellicott City; family close friend, Michele Dawn Gunter of Elliott Island and Mrs. Peddicord"s companion Harry Harding Jr. of Elliottt Island.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were her first husband, W. Scott Hamilton; son, Herbert Neal Peddicord, and grandson, Timothy James Peddicord II.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Island United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Kim Gilson, pastor and assisted by Lay Speaker, Dickie Insley and Assistant Chief, George Whitewolf. Burial will follow in Peddicord Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wylie Abbott Jr., Jason Abbott, Cory Abbott, Donald Curry, Chet Martinek, Jonathan Wayne "J.P." Peddicord and Vincent Sturgill.
