SALISBURY - Valerie Ruth Silk, a longtime resident of the Salisbury area, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at her home on Frederick Avenue. Born in Baltimore, she married the late George Joseph Silk in 1954. They were married for 61 years and lived in Dundalk before moving to Salisbury in 1990. She is survived by two children, Linda Ann Heim of Salisbury and Jeffrey Silk of Little Rock, Ark.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband and her brother, Richard P. Backert, both preceded her in death. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, March 14, 2016, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
