PRINCESS ANNE - UMES Extension is offering an in-person workshop March 3-4 to help farmers better understand agricultural tax issues associated with managing a farming operation.

The eight-hour event takes place over two days at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Research and Education Farm, just south of campus.

Topics of discussion for the first day from 1-5 p.m. include "Business Structure and Tax Considerations," "Tax Liability Issues and Helpful Resources," and "Everything Schedule F-Part I."  Day two, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., covers "Everything Schedule F-Part II," "Agriculture Payroll" and "Financial Statements and Reviews." Instructors for the sessions are from UMES Extension’s Agriculture Law Education Initiative and The Tennie Group LLC tax and accounting firm.

The $25 registration fee includes educational materials, refreshments and lunch on March 4. Visit www.umes.edu/sans/events to register.  For more information or special accommodations, contact Berran Rogers at blrogers@umes.edu or 410-621-5450.
