Tim Kennard River Race and Walk is March 25

The 15th Annual Tim Kennard 10 Mile River Run & 5K Run/Walk will take place Sunday, March 25, in Salisbury. Starting and finishing on the campus of Salisbury University, this race winds through the neighborhoods surrounding the university and the Wicomico River.

Options include a 10-mile race, 10-mile 2-person relay race, 5K race and 5K non-competitive walk.

Cash awards are given to the top finishers in the 10-mile, 10-mile relay and 5K races.

Again this year, the Tim Kennard River Run presents Robs Run for the Kids on Saturday, March 24, during packet pick-up at EVO Public House. Registration for this free fun race with distances for kids ages 2 to 10 is from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; races begin at 2 p.m. Donations collected will benefit the “Live Life Like Rob” Foundation, in memory of local runner and community advocate Rob Schultheis.

Online information/registration is available for all at www.timkennard.org. Follow the race on Facebook (Tim Kennard River Run) and Twitter (@tkriverrun) for information on upcoming group training runs to prepare for the race, every Sunday morning until race day at 8:30am starting at the Guerrieri University Center parking lot.

The race is in honor of Timothy Kennard, an avid local runner who passed away on March 11, 2004, after a courageous battle against kidney cancer.

Proceeds from the race, as requested by Tim to help children and animals, will benefit: Coastal Hospice (specifically for pediatric cases and programs for grieving children who have lost a sibling or a parent to cancer); Salisbury Horizons, (which provides support, education and hope to children from economically disadvantaged families) and Coalition of Caring, (a local fund for rescue animals).

Questions can be directed to Race Directors Harlan Eagle (harlan@timkennard.org) or Linda Mills (linda@timkennard.org).
