Three Lower Counties Community Services recently welcomed three new associates to help provide medical care and services on the Lower Shore.

Jennifer M. Kurtz -- Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.

Kurtz received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore and her Masters of Science in Nursing from Wilmington University.

A native of Snow Hill, she is practicing at TLC’s pediatric office in Princess Anne.

Dr. Hilda Kabali -- Pediatrician.

Kabali received medical degree from Wroclaw Medical University in Wroclaw, Poland. She also received a postgraduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Tropical Medicine in London. She completed her pediatric residency from Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

A native of Tanzania, she is practicing at the pediatric office in Princess Anne.

Deborah L. Anderson -- Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.

Anderson received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her MSN Family Nurse Practitioner from Wilmington University from Wilmington University.

She is practicing at TLC’s pediatrics office located at 1104 Healthway Drive in Salisbury.

Three Lower Counties Community Services, Your Community Health Center is a Multidisciplinary Practice serving Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties, featuring more than 90 providers in many specialties including Adult and Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urogynecology, Mental Health, Dental and Pharmacy.

Tilghman promoted, Eicher joins Bank of Delmarva

Edward M. Thomas, President and CEO of The Bank of Delmarva, recently announced that Kelsey Dickerson Tilghman was promoted within the corporation.

Tilghman joined the bank in 2012 and was recently promoted to the role of Branch Manager and loan officer for the Laurel location.

Tilghman graduated from Wilmington University with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies in 2013. In 2015 she graduated with her Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Leadership through Wilmington University.

Also at The Bank of Delmarva, Betsy J. Eicher, CPA, joined the bank as Senior Vice President and CFO.

Eicher graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting in 2005.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Kerchner named KSTF 2015 Teaching Fellow

The Knowles Science Teaching Foundation has named Salisbury University alumna Carrie Kerchner one its 2015 Teaching Fellows.

The five-year, early-career award is valued at up to $150,000. Only 34 were honored nationwide; all are promising high school mathematics and science teachers.

Kerchner  is a first-year algebra teacher at Wicomico High School. She earned bachelor’s degrees in marketing and mathematics/secondary education from SU.

“Over the last 10 years, I realized that teaching mathematics is my true calling,” she said, after transitioning from a sales/marketing management career. “I am passionate about mathematics, and ... I cannot think of a better way to use my passion than shaping the minds of children.”

KSTF’s signature Teaching Fellows Program empowers young teachers to foster educational improvement by reaching thousands of students each year and taking on leadership roles to strengthen math and science classroom education.

Alzheimer’s Association names new Eastern Shore Development and Outreach Coordinator

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter has named Carol Zimmerman its Eastern Shore Development and Outreach Coordinator.

Bringing 40 years of business and nonprofit experience, Zimmerman will seek to increase public awareness of the Alzheimer’s Association and help implement its mission and services on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

“Every year, Alzheimer’s disease touches more and more families,” Zimmerman said. “I am so pleased to have an opportunity to put my public relations and development skills to work for such an important cause – ending Alzheimer’s.”

Zimmerman recently relocated with her husband and son from Arizona, where was managing partner of Zimmerman Public Affairs, a public relations and marketing firm. She previously worked as development director for a private school and was chief of staff to the mayor of Tucson.
