COPPERSVILLE - Thomas Wesley Moaney Sr., 77, better known as "Tom" passed away Saturday, March 17, 2007 at his home in Coppersville.

He was born July 6, 1929 in Talbot County, son of the late John W. Moaney and Mary Ethel Drake Moaney. Tom attended school at Miles River Neck and Robert Russum Moton High School. He worked as a caretaker for Charles Lea and Joe Hollingsworth until his health began to fail.

He married the former Ella Louise Matthews on Dec. 3, 1983.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Moaney; six brothers, Johnny, Phillip, George, Daniel, Harvey and Sylvester; four sisters, Ida, Della, Molly and Ann and a stepgrandson, Donovan Matthews.

Survivors include his of 23 years, Ella Moaney; three daughters, Jacqueline Skinner, Arlene Moaney and Karen Moaney; two sons, Thomas Moaney Jr. and James Moaney; father-in-law, Herman Murray; a stepdaughter, Margaret Matthews; a stepson, Cecil Matthews (Romona); a brother, Ernest Moaney (Jean), Windsor, Conn.; sisters-in-law, Delores Moaney, Pauline Moaney, Flossie Moaney and Darlene Recchioni (Mario); two brothers-in-law, Dallas Matthews (Dovie) and Deweese Wright (Joyce); 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his caregivers, Yolanda Bommon and his nephew, Barry Moaney.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at St. Matthews UM Church (Longwoods) with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Burial will follow in Coppersville Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge.
