CAMBRIDGE - Thomas Levi Ross, 63, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at his residence.

Born Oct. 6, 1943, in Cambridge, he was the son of Levi and Morrine Spicer Ross.

Mr. Ross attended the public schools in Dorchester County and was a 1961 graduate of Mace"s Lane High School. After high school he enlisted into the United States Navy and was stationed in Great Lakes, Ill. for Basic Training. He served his country for 11 years and was stationed in various cities within the United States including Arlington, Va. There he had the honor of being an Honor Guard assigned to carry the casket for President John F. Kennedy in 1963.

On March 22, 2006, Mr. Ross was joined in Holy Matrimony to Doris Dunaway Nuton.

He became a member of Bethel AME Church in 1992 under the leadership of the late Rev. Leon B. Hall Sr. He was a member and Sgt. of Arms for the Inspirational Voices of Praise and a member of the Senior Choir.

At the time of his death, Mr. Ross was retired, but had been employed by Western Publishing and Airpax Electronics for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Ross; parents, Levi and Morrine Ross, all of Cambridge; a brother, Min. Howard Spicer (Earlene) of New Brunswick, N.J.; two sisters, Eileen Brooks of Philadelphia, Pa. and Betty Cox of Washington, D.C.; two daughters; two sons; four stepsons, Broderick and Alphonso Dunaway and Joseph Chester, all of Cambridge and Thomas Wallace Jr. of Ebony, Fla.; an aunt, Esther Spicer of Marion, S.C. and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and his Bethel Church family.

Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Bessie Ross Lane and maternal grandparents, Sarah Spicer and Adberry Spicer Sr.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at Bethel AME Church with the Rev. Alan M. Gould Sr., officiating. There will be a viewing two hours prior to the services. Burial is scheduled for Monday, at 10 a.m. with full military honors.

Arrangements are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home, P.A., in Cambridge.
