EASTON - Thomas H. Schwarten, 82, died on Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at the Memorial Hospital at Easton Palliative Care.
Born April 18, 1924, in Cordova, he was the son of the late Julius G. and Bertha R. Hartz Schwarten.
He was a 1941 graduate of Cordova High Schoo1. After working as a Superintendent of Jobs for several contractors, he became a MOSH Inspector for the State of Maryland, where he remained until his retirement in 1989.
He was a 29-year member of the Ruritan Club.
Mr. Schwarten is survived by his wife, Linda Schwarten, whom he married Sept. 2, 1961, at Trinity Cathedral in Easton; two children, Robert Schwarten of Easton, and Diana Barrett and her husband, Robert of Hampstead; two brothers, Alfred Schwarten of Denton and Hans Schwarten and his wife, Helen of Cordova; two grandchildren, Nathan T. and Amanda M. Barrett; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Schwarten and three sisters, Caroline Horsman, Pauline Clough, and Margaret Brinsfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at Fairview Church of The Brethren, Cordova.
Friends may call tonight from 6 to 8 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton.
Burial will be at the Fairview Church Cemetery, Cordova.
