CAMBRIDGE - Thomas Eugene Fisher III, 66, known as "Timmy" to family and friends, passed away Friday, May 30, at Dorchester General Hospital.

Born March 9, 1942, to the late Thomas E. Fisher Jr. and the late Gertrude E. Fisher, Timmy was a young man with a vibrant personality. During his formative years, Timmy attended primary and secondary schools in his hometown of Cambridge. As a youngster, Timmy exhibited an excellence for athletics. A popular and well-rounded athlete, Timmy lettered in four different sports at Mace's Lane High School where he earned his diploma in 1960. Upon graduation from Mace's Lane, Timmy went on to attend Morgan State University in Baltimore with a major in Social Science. His education at Morgan State was briefly interrupted by the call to serve his country in the United States Army and a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the military, Timmy resumed his education and graduated from Morgan State with a bachelor's degree.

Timmy served as a counselor and basketball coach at Catonsville Community College. While working for Catonsville Community College, he continued his education by earning his master's degree in counseling from Johns Hopkins University. He later moved to New York City and was employed there as a counselor with John Jay School of Law, one of the nation's leading schools in criminal justice. After a long, successful career with the law school, Timmy retired and returned to Cambridge to live.

He is survived by his younger brother, Wayne T. Fisher of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; aunts, Gloria Bailey and Jean Cornish of Cambridge, Dakota Stanley of Baltimore; uncle, Cokeland Wilson of Cambridge; Eleanor Mills-Fisher of New York; stepdaughter, Deion, also of New York; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bethel AME Church, 623 Pine St., Cambridge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm at Henry Funeral Home, PA., 510 Washington St., Cambridge.
