Terry Pinder McGriff, 52
CAMBRIDGE - Terry Pinder McGriff, 52, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2008.
She was born on June 10, 1955 in Cambridge, daughter of Gloria Cephas and the late Rozzell Lee Sr. Terry was the fourth and most flambuoyant of six siblings.
She attended school in the Dorchester County school district graduating from Cambridge High School, Class of 1973 and went on to receive an Associates Degree from Chesapeake Community College.
She spent most of her life in New Jersey and Florida as an Administrative professional. After returning to Cambridge in 2004 to care for her stepfather, she decided to change careers and pursue her passion for helping seniors. Her proudest professional accomplishment came in 2007 when she received her CNA designation from the Maryland Board of Nursing.
A devoted Christian she found a church home in Boca Raton, Fla. and then transferred her membership to First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, Somerset, N.J. before rededicating herself at Zion Baptist Church in Cambridge.
Terry was married in 2004 to Walter McGriff ending in a separation as friends. During the relationship she supported two children and two grandchildren.
Terry was preceded in death by her father Rozzell Lee Sr.; stepfather, Donald Cephas, and a nephew, Charles Sly Allen Jr.
She is survived by her mother, Gloria Cephas; a sister, Deborah Lee of Somerset, N.J.; four brothers, Charles (Coramae) Pinder of Oxford, Rozzell Lee of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kim Lee of Cambridge, Donnie (Blanche) Harris of Newport News, Va; and her biggest cheerleader and favorite niece, Dee Marshall of Newark, N.J.; a nephew, Charles Pinder Jr. of Oxford; a special godchild, Inez Hawkins; a great-aunt, Blonzie Swain of Chester, Pa.; uncles, Villard (Fannie) Stevens of Cambridge, David Stevens of Salisbury, Eugene Cephas of Cambridge; aunts, Cynthia Sampson of Cambridge, Jean Pryor of Salisbury; four aunts, Vernice Badger, Gloria Killings, Alfreda Redding and Saundra Opher all of New Jersey and a number of cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, at Zion Baptist Church, 600 Cross St., Cambridge, with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
