A juvenile was detained by juvenile authorities after he was charged with second-degree burglary, theft of $1,000 to $10,000 and malicious destruction of property, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

After the incident, at 7:10 a.m. at 202 South Main St. in Hebron, a deputy said he investigated eight buildings on the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department Carnival grounds.

Investigation revealed doors were forced open. A 50-inch flat screen LED television and two free standing oscillating fans were stolen, the deputy said.

Damage estimated at several thousands of dollars was done to the buildings when they were forced open, he said.

An investigation, in conjunction with the Dorchester Sheriff’s Office, of a vehicle stolen from Rhodesdale and found in Wicomico County, led  to a 16-year-old suspect being arrested, the deputy said.

He said the juvenile admitted to driving a stolen pickup truck from Rhodesdale to the Hebron Carnival grounds. The deputy said he pulled locked doors open at the carnival grounds using a wire cable attached to the truck.

The stolen items were recovered during the investigation, the deputy said.

A court appearance is pending for the juvenile.
