SALISBURY - Sylvia Emma Sharp, 58, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2007, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
She was born Dec. 24, 1948, in Cambridge, daughter of the late Eldridge Sharp and Arreda Vaughn Sharp.
Sylvia attended the public schools in Dorchester County. After graduating from Mace"s Lane High in 1965 she entered the Job Corps.
After residing in Bronx, N.Y., she returned to the Maryland area where she qualified to become a Maryland corrections officer. In the latter years she resided in the Annapolis area and held various jobs including the Annapolis Naval Academy as a cashier.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother and best friend, Arrender.
Surviving are two brothers, Savia Sharp (Deborah) and Martin Sharp; two sisters, Flora Wongus (Sherwood) and Vanessa Trusty and a number of nieces and nephews.
She had many friends including her caretaker, Karen Neal; a special friend, Debbie Young and a very motherly friend, Miss Hattie Gray.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at Henry Funeral Home, PA with a viewing one hour prior to the services. The Rev. Carswell is officiating. Burial will follow in Old Field Cemetery (Church Creek).
