Nine different players scored on Saturday afternoon for the No. 7 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team as it took down non-conference opponent Washington and Lee University, 14-5, at Sea Gull Stadium.

The game marked the women's lacrosse team's fifth-annual Pink Game as the team raised awareness for breast cancer by conducting a silent auction open to fans during the game.

Just under five minutes into the contest, the Sea Gulls got on the board when junior Gabbi Nieves scored on a free-position shot to put Salisbury up 1-0. Nieves would end the day with three goals in the game.

Less than a minute later, Washington and Lee notched an early equalizer after Maddy Graves finished on an unassisted goal.

Graves scored her second goal of the day at 22:09 to put the Generals up 2-1 early, but the Sea Gulls answered back with five-straight goals to go up 6-2 with 11:04 before halftime.

Senior Megan Wallenhorst started the scoring run at 20:01 when she dodged from the low side of the net and finished high to put the score at 2-2.

Salisbury went up 3-2 less than two minutes later when sophomore Dana King fended off defensive pressure in the crease and put a low finish into the back of the net.

At 17:07, sophomore Allie Hynson scored her first of three goals on the afternoon after she cut across the middle and took a feed from Wallenhorst to score, and a minute later, junior Hannah Young scored on a quick catch-and-shoot after receiving the ball from Wallenhorst to go up 5-2.

Nieves capped the scoring run after scooping up a rebound from a shot that deflected off Washington and Lee's goalkeeper, and burying a shot on an empty net.

The Generals put the score at 6-3 with 6:37 remaining in the first half before another finish from Nieves and a made free-position shot from sophomore Emma Wall put the Gulls up, 8-3, at the break.

Washington and Lee opened the second half with a goal from Lauren Procaccino six minutes in to get the Generals within four goals, but Salisbury would outscore Washington and Lee, 6-1, to close out the game.

Wall finished the game with two goals for the Sea Gulls, while freshmen Gabrielle Mongno and Lindsey Wagner, junior Ariana Maxwell, King, Young and Wallenorst each tallied a score.

The Salisbury defense and midfield continued to be relentless on Saturday, as the Sea Gulls tallied seven caused turnovers, including a combined five from senior Samantha Duranti and Nieves.

Sophomore Gianna Falcone played all 60 minutes in front of the net for Salisbury, notching five saves and picking up her fourth win of the season.

The Sea Gulls will be back at home on Wednesday, March 9, when they host No. 6 Gettysburg College at Sea Gull Stadium. That game is set for 3:30 p.m.
