Shirley T. Abbott

DELMAR - Shirley T. Abbott died Monday, May 25, 2015, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Crisfield, she was a daughter of the late Augustus and Nelda Thomas. She was an avid supporter of the Delmar Athletics, especially the football team, where she could be found ringing the cowbell during the games. She was the co-founder of the Second Wind Halfway House, where she helped many people through their addictions. She is survived by a son, Keith A. "Artie" Abbott, Sr.; two daughters, Penny L. Glasgow and Ilah M. Preston, both of Delmar; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nephews in Michigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith K. Abbott; a brother, Leroy Thomas; and two beloved aunts, Mamie Nock and Irene Collins. A memorial service was held on Friday, May 29, 2015, at the Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
