Sherwood E. Lake HURLOCK - Sherwood E. Lake, 53, passed away at the Genesis Elder Care, The Pines at Easton on Sunday June 29, 2008. He was born in Dorchester on Jan. 23, 1955 and was a son of Mabel Jones Lake and the late Percy James Lake. Sherwood attended schools in North Dorchester and graduated from North Dorchester in 1974. As a young man he had worked on several local farms. Sherwood had made his home in Oklahoma for a number of years and had been living in Dorchester since last July. He had been in failing health for several months when he passed away at the Genesis Elder Care, The Pines at Easton on Sunday. Survivors include a son, Brandell Edward Lake of Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother, Mabel J. Lake of Hurlock; three sisters, Vandoria O. Lake of Oklahoma City, Okla., Patty M. Lake of Madison, Sherlmaine I. Jenkins of Cordtown; five brothers, Tyrone Lake of Dagsboro, Del., Percy J. Lake Jr. of Williamsburg, Leroy H. Lake of Salisbury, Alvin J. Lake of Federalsburg and Preston Y. Lake of Hurlock and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene R. Thompson. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the National Church of God near Hurlock with the Rev. D. Cynthia Stanton officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Cemetery at Salem. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the National Church of God. Pallbearers will be Milton Jones, Percy J. Lake Jr., Leroy Lake, Alvin Lake, Preston Lake and Billy Lake. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Lake's name to the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust St., Cambridge, MD 21613.
