Please join the residents of Sharptown on Saturday for the town’s 9th Annual Heritage Day Celebration.
Town Wide Yard Sales will kick off the day at 7 a.m. Main Street will be closed at 9 a.m., so an assortment of vendors can sell their wares.
Historical Exhibits will be displayed in the Museum and Town Hall located on Main Street.
The Heritage Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. at Cherry Beach Park, traveling along Little Water, Main Street, and ends at the Carnival Grounds.
There are two new events: A Best Dessert in Sharptown/Bake Off Contest and a performance by the Nanticoke Indians.
The Heroes Havens 4th Annual Duck Race takes place at 1 p.m. Between 2 to 3 p.m., winners
of various raffles will be announced from community organizations.
Kids crafts and games are free.
Bring your appetite, as there will be plenty of great food to eat as well.
West Wicomico Heritage Day set for Sept. 23
West Wicomico Heritage Day returns this September, offering fun activities for the whole family.
The Wicomico Recreation, Parks & Tourism event, set for Sept. 23, features the 22nd annual West Wicomico Heritage Bike Tour, the Historians Scavenger Hunt and other activities at Pemberton Historical Park.
Participants in the bike tour, which takes off from Pemberton Historical Park, can choose from 32-, 50-, and 62-mile routes that wind through western Wicomico County. The event lasts from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with show and go from 7 to 8:30 a.m.
Registration is open now. Sign up by Sept. 4 to guarantee an event shirt. The early registration fees are $35 for adults, $20 for children ages 8-18 and free for children 7 and under (no shirt included). After Aug. 25, the rates for participants ages 8 and older increases by $5.
For the Historians Scavenger Hunt, teams of up to five will explore historical sites in Pemberton Historical Park, completing tasks and challenges. Participants will sign up on-site, and the cost is $5 per group. Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the scavenger hunt begins at 11 a.m.
There will also be tours of Pemberton Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $5 per person and History Trail guided tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Pork chop dinner is Friday in Delmar
The public is invited to come to a Grilled Pork Chop Dinner on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., sponsored by the Delmar VFW Auxiliary.
The post is located at 200 West State St. in Delmar. The dinner is $10. The menu will include a tossed salad with a choice of dressings, a savory grilled pork chop, baked potato with butter and/or sour cream, peas, and a dinner roll. A variety of desserts will also be available.
