TANGIER ISLAND, Va. - Sarah E. Crockett, 88, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, at her home.

Born on Tangier, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Nellie Marshall Crockett. Her husband, Charlie B. Crockett, died June 28, 1989.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was active in the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the AARP and the former Daughters of America Lodge.

Surviving are a daughter, Dottie Evans and husband Roger of Tangier, Ella Crockett of Orlando, Fla., and Jo Crockett of Heathsville, Va., five grandchildren, Roger Evans, Allen Evans, Katie Eskridge, Amy Eskridge, and Anna Eskridge, three great-grandchildren, Rebecca Evans, Elisha Evans, and Curtis Evans, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Freddie Dale Crockett; five sisters, Thelma Clark, Eva Pruitt, Bessie Parks, Rita Pruitt, Lucy McCready; and two brothers, Charles Crockett and Willie Crockett.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Tangier. The Rev. John Jones and her daughter, Ella Crockett, officiated. Burial was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield where the Rev. Strickland Crockett officiated the committal service.

Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
