Samuel Paul Swift Jr.

BLOXOM, Va. - Mr. Samuel Paul Swift, Jr., 63, husband of Holly Dereng Swift and a resident of Bloxom, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010. Born on Sept. 30, 1946, in Crisfield, Md., he was a son of the late Samuel Paul Swift and Margaret Daughterty Swift. Sam graduated from Marion High School in 1964, was a commercial fisherman, a Presbyterian, and member of the Eastern Shore Waterman's Association. Other than his wife, survivors include three children, Terry L. Williams of Parksley, Va., Leslie Mason of Onley, Va., and James H. Bush and his wife Regina of Sullivan, Mo.; a sister, Helen Smith of Laurel, Del.; a brother, Coulbourne Swift of Marion; five grandchildren, Donald M. (Monty) Windsor, III, David M. Windsor, Laura Sigmon, Jessica R. Fazekas and Austin D. Bush; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Mosher and Margaret Salisbury; and a brother, Willard Swift. A memorial service was conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bob Daniels and Rev. Terry Riggins officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sam Swift Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Eastern Shore Working Waterman's Association, P.O. Box 799, Exmore, VA 23350 or to the charity of one's choice. Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com. Arrangements by the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home.
