CAMBRIDGE - Ruth Louise Stanley, 94, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at her home.

She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Taylors Island, the daughter of the late William and Rosie Smith. Mrs. Stanley was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County.

While residing in Baltimore, she was employed with several hospitals in the area. After returning to Taylors Island she married Charles W. Stanley on April 7, 1955. He preceded her in death.

Although Mrs. Stanley was not blessed with children of her own she was blessed with stepchildren.

Her hobbies were going out on the boat to fish and crab and her daily ride around Punch Island, where she would sit and watch the waves and boats going by. Ruth enjoyed cooking for others.

She was a member of Lane's United Methodist Church now know as New Revived United Methodist Church. Mrs. Stanley was a member of the singing and praying band, United Methodist Women and Life Beautiful Club.

She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Smith of Baltimore; two daughters, Delilah Jones (Arthur) of Cambridge and Dianna Wimberton of Florida; two sons, Charles Cornish (Dora) of Glen Burnie and Wayne Cornish of Baltimore and other relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, four brothers, three sisters and a son, Bismark Stanley preceded her in death.

Services will be held at noon on Saturday, at New Revived UM Church with a viewing held one hour prior to the services. The Rev. Jerome Tilghman will officiate. Burial will follow in Lane's Cemetery (Taylors Island).

Arrangements are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge.
