TACOMA PARK - Rosie Evelyn Blackwell, 83, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2007, at the Washington Adventist Hospital, Tacoma Park, after a lengthy illness.

She was born March 18, 1924, daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mary E. Stafford and the wife of the late Rufus "Billy" Blackwell.

Mrs. Blackwell attended the public schools of Dorchester County. She became a Christian at an early age at Christ Rock Methodist Church and later joined Waugh Chapel United Methodist church. While at Waugh, she was a member of the Communion Stewards until her health failed.

She was employed with various companies within the area which include Phillips Packing Co., Coastal Foods and Bumble Bee Tuna.

She enjoyed watching TBN Christian Television, soap operas, informing others what's on sale each week and talking on the telephone.

She is survived by, a daughter, Vinetta Stafford Belton of Hyattsville; granddaughters, Katrina Belton (Deon) of Washington, and Keisha Belton of Hyattsville; great-granddaughter, Akira Belton of Washington, a brother, Frederick Stafford of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law, Annie Stafford of Gary, Ind., Lucille Goode and Mandy Grambrell both of Baltimore; a special niece, Gloria Molock and a number of nieces, nephews and friends; and special family friends, Mae Thomas, Tivola Carter, Rita Cain, Hannah Lotting, Dakota George, Ernest Jones, Elaine Stafford, Edward Sterling and Mildred Jones.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at Waugh Chapel UM Church, 425 High St., Cambridge with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Burial will follow in Christ Rock Cemetery. The Rev. William T. Wallace Sr. will officiate.

Arrangements by Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge.
